At least three people died during a protest by hundreds of demonstrators in the Democratic Republic of Congo’s capital, against the Covid-19 lockdown’s closure of the city’s main market, officials and witnesses said.
“We deplore the deaths of three people,” the spokesperson, Charles Mbuta Muntu, said following a meeting to discuss the unrest.
