and start reading now.

Neela Montgomery, CEO of Crate & Barrel Holdings, told Business Insider that while the company's e-commerce sales have grown 50-60% in recent weeks, some reopened stores are already seeing customers come in with large furniture orders that they may not have been comfortable placing online. "We may just see a more permanent shift in behavior, and that will lead us to think about, what does the store need to look like? And what should we be fulfilling through the store of the future?" she said. "Maybe it's going to be virtual, maybe it's by appointment, alongside the traditional shopping experience."

"We are seeing great customer demand for that, interestingly in categories like dinnerware and kitchen and all of those areas where people have a need and have a need now, and they're going to come to the store and pick it up," Montgomery said.
