CVS Health has seen decreased value, and its latest initiative is a smart bet to drive business and foot traffic as outbreaks continue

an enterprise offering that would integrate onsite testing for businesses with a digital analytics dashboard, similar to CVS Health's.

While ensuring that employees test negative for the coronavirus prior to returning to work could ideally control the spread of the virus, we think the uncertainty surrounding the accuracy of coronavirus tests on the market could hamper the effectiveness of these programs: A recent Johns Hopkins study that 1 in 5 RT-PCR tests — which involve a nasal swab — may generate false negatives, erroneously indicating that coronavirus-positive patients are not carrying the virus.

This unreliability could be detrimental to workplaces that are enforcing return-to-work programs, as some employees who are cleared to work via testing could unknowingly transmit the virus to their coworkers. Despite the inaccuracies surrounding some coronavirus tests, these tests will still be employers' best bet at identifying workers with the virus until a more reliable solution is rolled out — putting CVS Health in a good position to tout its Return Ready solution to employers.
