Former Snowflake CEO Bob Muglia and Okta veteran Eric Berg are joining the leadership team of the data startup Fauna, just as it closes a $27 million round

Weaver says that for a while, he had been looking to bring on additional leadership with more market experience, and some investors introduced him to Berg and Muglia. Weaver started talking to Muglia while he was still heading up"When I looked at what new interesting things are happening, particularly in data, I came across Fauna," Muglia told Business Insider. "Fauna really jumped out.

Berg says his goal as CEO is to continue to grow and nurture its developer community, as well as to convert its community members into customers. "It tends to be technologists who are out there looking for better ways to architect these applications," Berg told Business Insider. "First and foremost is making sure we engage with that community and keep that growth really helpful."Fauna initially started as a consultancy, and the team spent some time exploring the market before it started developing its product. It raised its first round of funding in 2016.
