Walmart wants to turn TikTok's Gen Z users into loyal shoppers — and it's willing to buy TikTok to do it

Of course, many of TikTok's users are likely too young to have their own money. But eventually, they will grow up and get jobs, and they could turn into loyal shoppers for Walmart.

In a separate note, UBS analyst Michael Lasser said, "connecting with a younger audience is vital to Walmart's long-term outlook, especially as more digitally native generations move into their prime consumption years." Access to TikTok's users could even give Walmart an edge over Amazon, according to Neil Saunders, managing director of GlobalData Retail.
