Devialet, the speaker company backed by Jay-Z, takes on Apple with $299 wireless earbuds

Audio company Devialet is branching out from high-end speakers and launching earbuds to rival Apple's AirPods Pro.

CEO Franck Lebouchard talked up Gemini's active noise cancellation and said the earbuds had been in the works for two years.High-end speaker company Devialet is taking on Apple with its first pair of wireless earbuds, the £279/$299 Devialet Gemini. Active noise cancellation comes with "transparency" mode that allows you to hear more background noiseThe earbuds will be available to pre-order online from October 10. They'll be available to buy directly in the US from partners like Best Buy and Amazon from November 25., the company isn't committing to a shipping time, only guaranteeing it will ship by or before December 15 or else issue a refund.

CEO Franck Lebouchard told Business Insider Devialet had been working on its earbuds for two years, after Apple launched its first-generation Airpods. He added that the company had filed three patents for its active noise cancellation technology."We were really convinced that those products would be the next generation to headphones," he said. "When we launched the project, it addressed our mission to provide the best sound experience wherever, to as many people as we can.

$300 is entirely too much for earbuds. The SOUNDPEATS I've had (and have multiples of) for $30 on Amazon have been rather impressive, especially for the price. No way I'd pay $300 for ear buds 🤯

They sound much better than those Apple pro crap
