Metromile's new Ride Along feature aims to accelerate its customer acquisition

tech and product development over marketing, leading to slow growth over the past few years.

Metromile should now bolster its analytical capabilities beyond mileage to further cement the benefits of its coverage. Metromile has started to integrate behavioral data—such as speeding, braking habits, and time of day driving—into its coverage pricing in four of its eight US markets, which provides more information on drivers to potentially further push down prices.

Customers can save an additional 40% on their initial Metromile quote for demonstrating safe driving habits in select markets, per the release. By taking both behavioral and mileage data into account, the Ride Along feature can present prospective new users with an even cheaper initial quote, further boosting uptake.
