YOUTHS of Rumuolumeni community, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State blocked the premises of Saipem, an oil servicing company, protesting what they term denial of gainful employment of it

The youths numbering over 100 had marched round major streets in the community before terminating at the company where they blocked the entrance and refused anyone from going in. The Rumuolumeni Youth President, Noble Elegele, who spoke with journalists during the protest, said the multinational had refused to employ graduates from the area, but were only engaging its youths for menial jobs.”

“We have many graduates moving about without jobs. We cannot continue like this, where only menial jobs are good for our people. What we want is for them to employ our people, especially our graduates,” he stated.
