Few Republicans have written off Trump entirely, and some said they genuinely expected the president to shock Democrats the same way he did four years ago against Hillary Clinton and win a second term come November. But terrible poll numbers, adespite raising historic amounts of money, and Trump's continual struggles to manage crises as president have it looking like he could join other modern-day American leaders like former Presidents George H.W. Bush and Jimmy Carter as one-termers.

A Republican close to Trump dropped an F-bomb when asked this week about Parscale's handling of the campaign money. Still, other Republicans have expressed disappointment in Stepien. They said that as much as Trump's second 2020 campaign manager righted the ship after Parscale, it was still not enough. One Republican advisor said Stepien was a good standard campaign manager, but Trump needed someone exceptional to turn around his reelection bid.
