This follows an expose by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, alleging Ramaphosa is profiting from illegal trophy hunting.

The group says its secret investigation has revealed the president is quietly developing and expanding a trophy hunting property called Diepdrift and is stocking it with animals from his own wildlife breeding operation called Phala Phala. The organisation further alleges the President owns a 50% stake in Tsala Hunting Safaris.

Ramaphosa has denied this, saying neither he nor Phala Phala have a stake in the trophy hunting industry. He is further accused Peta of using its platforms to disseminate false information regarding Phala Phala Wildlife and himself.
