Adam Liaw's road trip series sends the message we're open for business | Bridget McManus

Adam Liaw is a nice TV cook. There's no Gordon Ramsay rage in his kitchen studio – just calm, friendly demonstrations of Asian-inspired dishes he says anyone can make. But even the mild-mannered 2010winner turned prolific presenter felt moved to take to Twitter with a pointed message for disgraced former TV chef Pete Evans.

Liaw has seen first hand the power of unity over adversity. He's spent much of the year visiting bushfire-ravaged regions for his four-part SBS Food series,, which showcases through interviews and recipes, the recovery effort in the food industry across South Australia, NSW and Victoria."It's just incredible when you think about what some of these communities have been through. We're talking COVID, and before that there were fires, and before that there was drought for years.

In the series, Liaw learns of co-operation between struggling operators, such as the apple cider vinegar maker who sent stock to his apple supplier in the NSW town of Batlow, after the grower's cider sheds were burnt down and he had none to sell.
