Silicon Valley's venture capitalists have made concerted efforts to establish offices in Europe over the last year, in another indication of the continent's tech maturation.
Early Snapchat backer Lightspeed Venture Partners has been beefing up its European operations in 2020 as it looks to snap up the continent's best talent. The venture capital firm set up an office in London this year, headed by partner Rytis Vitkauskas with support from US-based Nicole Quinn and Bradley Twohig. Quinn will spend half her time in California and half in Europe, she told Business Insider in an interview.
Valley investors have historically, fairly or unfairly, had a reputation for myopia in Europe. European founders say with remarkable consistency that they need to travel to California to raise serious rounds of cash. There are clear signs that's changing.
European base in London? Or UK base? Try Ireland - still EU.
