European stocks open higher and euro gains after Georgia Senate races

European stocks rose in opening trade, after results from the two Georgia Senate races showed Democrats on the verge of controlling the upper chamber. Raphael Warnock won one of two Senate runoffs in Georgia early Wednesday, according to the Associated Press, while fellow Democrat Jon Ossoff is winning by a narrow margin. The French CAC 40 PX1, +0.53% rose 0.7%, and the German DAX DAX, +0.29% and U.K.

also advanced. The yield on the 10-year German bund TMBMKDE-10Y, -0.542% rose to -0.53%, and the euro EURUSD, +0.20% advanced.
