. The thin, touch-sensitive OLED display that replaced the function row of keys was never really useful as anything more than a novelty, except it was far too prone to accidental taps.

When the company updated the first Macs with M1 processors, it left the design unchanged. Aside from fewer ports on the Mac mini and a couple of new icons on the MacBook Air, all three Macs that received the M1 look exactly like the device it replaces. Surely the company knows it wasn't a hit and that, if given a choice, many people would opt for a laptop without one, all other things being equal.

JasonAten I actually use the Touch Bar more often than I thought I would. Will I miss it? Probably not, but there’s bound to be fans out there who would. Maybe it should be sold as an optional upgrade.

JasonAten Apple's success can be attributed to the fact that they have been better at predicting what customers want better than anyone else, including the customer. They haven't always gotten it right but if they start making decisions based on listening to customers, they are in trouble.
