ANALYSIS: The big question facing millions of workers and business tomorrow

The fire hose of money that supported the wages of millions of Australians through the height of the pandemic is about to run dry, with JobKeeper payments to end tomorrow.

At its peak, JobKeeper payments were being made to 3.6 million employees, but as eligibility rules tightened in the past six months that has fallen to about 1.1 million workers. "Employment will continue to increase over the course of this year, although the unemployment rate could rise a little over coming months before resuming its downward trajectory."
