Starting out small four years ago, Raja Fadilah and her husband Amir Ismail from Rembau have turned their venture into a profitable business.
“Our home-based operation is slightly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic but we still get orders. In fact, we didn’t expect demand to rise ahead of Hari Raya, ” she said. With a startup capital of just RM600, the couple now earn at least RM5,000 a month in net sales from Rempeyek Kak Cun.Raja Fadilah, 48, said she and her husband – a retired air force warrant officer, are able to triple their income due to higher demand during festive seasons, especially Hari Raya.Rempeyek Kak Cun produces five types of rempeyek – anchovies and groundnut, dhal, anchovies, sunflower seeds and mung beans.
The fritters are priced between RM20 and RM25, depending on weight. They can produce 17kg of rempeyek daily, said Raja Fadilah, adding that she plans to boost production by opening her own factory with modern equipment. — Bernama
