The Music and Entertainment Association of Ireland has called for the Government to commit to a date for the reopening of the live music sector

Members of the live music sector are to meet Minister Catherine Martin this afternoon to discuss a roadmap for the return of live concerts and other cultural events.

He said that from 14 September up to 30% of workers in the industry who are on the Pandemic Unemployment Payment "will become unemployed" as they are transitioned to job seekers allowance and no longer permitted to be self-employed while on the payment. He said "the next six months could be more damaging than the previous 18 if a re-opening strategy does not take everything into account."
