Dublin City Council has issued a tender to appoint someone who will operate it as part of a planned revamp. The City Council said this would complement the existing 17 traders on the street who operated Monday through to Saturday from 9.30am to 6.30pm.
Chair of the group Green Party councillor Donna Cooney said "this shows the commitment of Dublin City Council to retain Moore Street as a trading area into the future".The EU tender document says the commercial operator will be appointed for one year and this can be renewed for a maximum of three years.
The expert group report, which is being used as a reference document, pointed to a number of issues on the street, including "extreme" anti-social behaviour. It also wanted to do away with the uniform style of the striped stalls and to require that empty stalls are removed from the street.
Very soon the Moore street market will become a centre of the global trade 😉
