Proponents of a controversial dredging project argue Utah Lake’s environmental problems are so widespread that fixing them requires massive reengineering of the lakebed.

Environmental Consultants to design the project and shepherd it through a rigorous analysis, which the Army Corps will now oversee.

While the lake continues to suffer, these investments are paying off and its ecology is on the mend, experts say. The once-proliferating Asian carp, introduced as a food source in the 1880s, no longer dominate the waters and native June sucker have rebounded from near extinction. Central to the island forming process are massive “geotextile” tubes that would be pumped full of dredged sediments, according to Geosyntec principal Rudy Bonaparte.

Start by testing sewage treatment plants properly, although Utah's Science Council already in 1984 unanounisly recommended this!

One problem is that urine is not treated under the CWA, while it robs oxygen and is a fertilizer (nutrient) for alga, all due to a faulty test. Officials in Utah (even the media) in 1982 were aware, but refused to correct the test.

So the unbia$ed company expert$ want Taxpayers to pay so the “environmentally minded developers” they rep can build what will be eyesore houses on dusty islands on our only pretty natural lake in the metro. Yeah it’s a big nope from me
