A US-based recycling company announces plans to build the largest recycling plant in Australia that uses chemicals, enabling a diverse range of plastic processing capacity.

A US-based recycling company has announced plans to build the largest plastic processing factory in Australia in the New South Wales Central West.The factory will be one of the largest facilities of this kind across the worldBrightmark is investing $260 million to build the recycling plant in Parkes.

"Sixty per cent of plastic waste will come from the Asia-Pacific region by 2025, so if we believe we are going to help solve the problem globally, we better be in Australia," he said. Construction on the processing plant will begin next year, with the facility expected to be fully operational by 2025.According to WWF, 130,000 tonnes of plastic waste ends up in Australia's oceans each year.
