The flea market first opened in July 2001 in the plaza parking lot before moving indoors months later.

The weekend market’s final day will be April 24, said David Kurtz, general manager of the plaza for 600 Scranton LLC, the firm that owns Sugarman’s. It was supposed to close April 17, but a water leak closed the market last week, prompting them to give vendors an additional week of business, he said. There are between 50 and 55 vendors at the market, Kurtz said.

Kost is moving less than a mile away on Business Route 6 to the site of the former Sebastianelli’s Restaurant in Eynon, but P&R’s future remains uncertain. Normally, the store is immaculate, but Shelp-Staff apologized for the clutter as she packed boxes of items to sell at a discount, hoping she can cover her $550 rent payment for her last month at the market.
