Saturday was the last day of the construction competition at Catalina Magnet High School.

TUCSON, Ariz. — Participating students compete in multiple construction categories while networking with industry professionals.

The pandemic brought a booming demand for new housing, but there are fewer construction workers. 11,000 fewer, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.It’s one reason why 150 students participated in the construction competition at Catalina Magnet High School this weekend. Students compete in eight categories, each one is sponsored by a local construction company, ready to offer them a job.

Memories of Catalina HS! Worked there & 3 female students approached me & not so nicely told me that I needed 2 go 2 the Teenage Parent Program school bcuz I was 🤰🏽! I politely told them TY but I work here, I’m 28! All 3 said OH MISS! WE ARE SO SORRY!🤣 I miss working w/teens!
