To connect job seekers with employers, Stockton University is hosting a day-long cannabis career fair on April 5

about growth in the job sector from industry giant Leafly has business owners and hopeful applicants all wondering how hiring will factor into the coming recreational market in New Jersey and surrounding markets.

Experience, knowledge and how you leverage each of them are major factors when seeking to grow in the cannabis space. He said that while Stockton is the only state university that offers a minor in cannabis studies, there are around 100 colleges and community colleges that offer options for formal education.

One of his former students, Jenna Misciascio, said that most students find themselves in entry level positions once completing these programs, where they are competing with applicants who have no formal education, but do have commensurate experience. “I didn’t even have to leave my home state to find a job with cannabis hospitality,” she said. “Every time I see students, I explain to them there’s a connection to cannabis with every single one of their majors.”

Some of the most needed services are business development, consulting and recruitment. These companies can help facilitate planning meetings between municipalities, licensees and experts in the cannabis space.
