Walgreens Boots Alliance chief executive officer Roz Brewer has joined the board of VillageMD, which is developing hundreds of doctor-staffed clinics connected to Walgreens drugstores across the U.S.

Brailer is known nationally for his work in health information technology and was National Coordinator for Health Information Technology within the Department of Health and Human Services during President George W. Bush’s administration from May 2004 to April 2006. The announcement about Brewer and Brailer joining VillageMD’s board comes with Walgreens now holding a 63% stake in VillageMD.

Walgreens is opening a new VillageMD clinic attached to a drugstore on average “every three days” this year.
