The Director-General, National Youths Service Corps, Major Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim, has tasked Corp members to embrace self-employment options to aid themselves after their service since white-collar jobs are no longer easy to come by in Nigeria.

He pointed out that the NYSC Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme was carefully designed to equip Corps members for self-employment and wealth creation after the service year.

Ibrahim, spoke at the NYSC permanent orientation camp in Umunna, Bende Local Government Area in Abia State during the closing ceremony of the 2022 Batch A orientation course on Thursday. He commended the Corp members for the level of enthusiasm they demonstrated during the vocational and entrepreneurial training conducted in the camp and encouraged them to build on the skills acquired by availing yourselves of the opportunities for post-camp training.

Ibrahim, who was represented by the NYSC State Coordinator Abia, Jingi Denis, also enjoin the corps members to brace up for the tasks of the next phase of their service year having completed the orientation course. He said, “This is important as the entire nation looks forward to your roles in advancing the unity and development of the country. I urge you to remain patriotic, hardworking and resilient as demonstrated during the Orientation exercise.
