Simon Birmingham takes aim at Labor's housing policy, saying first home buyers will have '[Anthony] Albanese at the kitchen table with you, owning part of your home'.

Finance Minister Simon Birmingham has taken aim at Labor's housing policy, saying first home buyers will have "[Anthony] Albanese at the kitchen table with you, owning part of your home".

, where people only need to have a 5 per cent or 2 per cent deposit to avoid lender's mortgage insurance . Senator Birmingham criticised Labor's plan, saying it would help fewer people than the Coalition's policy. "It is helping now, really, to lift the rates of first home ownership, it is delivering outcomes for Australians and, importantly, you get to own your own home," he said.

Anything attached to sim birmo I switch to the wiggles or something similar

Lies 🤥🤥🤥🤥

Haha ..

Under LNP you can’t afford to buy your first house.

More than he has done

Failed badly in the process.

You sir have done nothing to stop the prices of every day living from rising

3 Billion of a dodgy scheme , got RORTS written all over it , will it BE restricted to Australians or another Chinese give away ? Many questions unanswered

Instead of knocking, come up with your own. Ten years and the Liberals have done nothing but to fuel the runaway in house pricing. You the Liberals rejected actions that other countries are taking to rain in housing, like reducing tax incentives. Liberal feed rich people not poor

Rather than giving proper insight you give us this ? ThisIsNotJournalism And PatsKarvelas this is what we are talking about

When you have no policy of your own you just have to talk about the oppositions , which makes it even more apparent you have not policy at all. It’s called misdirection, but voters are wise to it .

What have you done?

If I had a lazy gorilla I would have put money on that from that POS.

At the end of the day something needs to be done in our 'lucky country', everyone should be able to own a house. It can be done, even for those low income workers and those who are on welfare, we just need good government which we definitely don't have right now.

I refuse to accept any comment from someone who looks like the MAD Magazine cover boy.

“You’ll own nothing and you’ll be happy “ in the making with Labor 🙁

You are joking, Liberals take a swipe. Suppose you are right, Robo Debt, watching the homeless, housing crisis and fly's in their government. They swipe but never hit the target.

I think at this stage most people are wishing for a hung parliment. Metaphorically speaking 🤣🤣

What’s LNP going to provide? Instructions on putting up a tent?

Alfred E Neumann speaks out

And while in power for the last decade, the LNP federals have done what exactly to keep home ownership/residential rentals at reasonable levels?

It’s a tried and tested scheme. LNP won’t support anything that doesn’t fill their back pockets

Who'd have guessed

Amazing!

Neither party is serious about this. Stop voting for them.

This is nothing different than loaning from two banks 🤣🤣🤣

If it’s a good housing policy LiberalAus then run with it! This is the issue, we are continually at the behest of selfish right wing politicians like Birmo who are only in it for a buck and a dig at a sustainable future for Australians. AlboForPM auspol southaustralia

This is stellar. Govt will a capital gain on their investment and people trapped in renting only because of lack of deposit get to put roots down in their own home. Much better than a first home buyer handout that just pushed builder premium up and wasn’t available to separations

Swipe more like egg flip...

So what is newsworthy is not the actual policy but the current government’s opposition to it - the is making an excellent case for why it should be sold off as it is no longer any better than commercial media. It is very sad to see what the has become.

Afterwards decade of pulling the rug out from under social housing the Feds really should have nothing to say.

He’s jealous.

That's 10.000 better of than under Liberal.

Couldn't run a brothel

Pig

LNP is a total failure in housing affordability! Doesn’t fit him to criticise ALP . Already failed in the policy and market is massively overvalued!

He really struggled to respond to the question ' is it a bad idea' iy clearly is angood idea on top of current support. Really poor performance by Birmingham. You lack conviction in his delivery on every point. Same tired old platitudes

I have no idea who this guy is. Such a do nothing government.

Australia takes a swipe at the coalition’s economic management👇

Close the door on the way out please Simon. auspol

Would that be the same finance minister who signs off on every dodgy deal the government's done? Him taking a swipe at it is an endorsement.

pffft

More or less a 'rolled gold' guarantee that it's got value. If it's a put down, they're dismayed. People are goiing to ask why those in office haven't even considered it. Typical 'You Had Your Chance' Birmingham .

Typical of a government that never has ideas. Never has plans. Just spend their time working out the best day of the week to shut something down.

Wages need to go up & house prices need to go down but everything both parties do just makes everything worse.. They see more debt as the 'solution' & are forcing all tax payers to subsidise it.

Was that before or after he blamed Labor for the coming interest rate rises?🤷‍♀️

I don’t think they’ll mind Albo at their table. He may even bring a noice bottle 🍷 to compliment the meal (alcohol free for those who choose not to drink of course) auspol

1856 Melbourne’s building workers won the world’s first 8-hour day without a loss in pay. This battler's/ win helped found a fighting tradition among the organised working class movement. The historic victory came before USA workers & before Karl Marx raised the idea of a 8hr day

That’s all mainstream politics is these days: swiping. Australia deserves so much better.

And misses🤣 What a trainwreck of an interview for Birmo, so good for the Labor vote! MorrisonMustGo Albo4PM auspol

Mayhem Morrison and gang struggling to present anything of value to Australians so they push same old “trust us, don’t trust them, throw cash around to buy votes, lie vigorously, challenge anything new with - they have no experience” total rubbish from the Morrison-Joyce misfits

Of course he frames an optional policy as though Labor is somehow nationalising everyone's houses - and of course the ABC article has nothing addressing this sleight-of-hand in his rhetoric.

Spreading propaganda. Just stop. ThisIsNotJournalism

He’s right. There’s nothing wrong with housing affordability under Birmingham’s government.

Just another blowie'.

Fancy!

Of course Birmingham did. He always looks like he’s just stepped out of the shower, shaved, slapped on some old spice & combed his hair. Not a criticism, just an observation

Birmo is a hypocrite It was OK for LNP to fund a guarantte deposit to buy farms but bashing Labor home funding Josh had stoked a price spiral with his home builder grant then house materials cost 20% more

Shared equity has existed for decades at state level under govts of both hues. What a disgraceful misleading downright lie

Same man that's ultimately signed the paperwork on every single tort his government has been party to. A bit rich Birmo 👀

Birmingham was exposed by Speers when he lied about “Government modelling”

At least he's tried never doing anything different

Another puff piece for the liberal party. Keep it up ABC 👍 maybe you could join in and do an article about Frydenberg and his family next too

What a fkn embarrassment Birmo is.

birmo what do you have to offer other than corruption and rape cover ups?

Same same finance minister presiding over the dumpster fire we’re living through now?
