ICYMI: The Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) has announced that no action will be taken against workers who disrupted its main May Day celebrations at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium outside Rustenburg in the North West.

Cosatu Deputy General Secretary Solly Phetoe says the union sympathises with the workers but it doesn’t support the disruption of the event.

They were accusing the president and the ANC-led government of failing and refusing to honour the 2018 collective bargaining agreement it entered into with labour. They have blamed the governing party for allowing the matter to be ventilated in the courts which ultimately ruled in favour of employers.Cosatu president Zingisa Losi says she doesn’t believe that the federation’s members shunned the May Day celebrations. Losi says there were members who were listening to the speeches.

At the heart of the political difference between the life-long comrades is the government’s failure to honour the third level of the 2018 three years collective bargaining agreement.

What was Cyril doing there? A show off?

There were no marshalls to maintain security. The government does not honour wage settlements. The mine workers' strike has been going on for 3 months without any intervention by the Minister of Labour.

Cosatu is still mimicking what the workers did in the '80s. There was no need to throw Cyril under the bus with disgruntled workers not being paid what is reasonable theirs. Why a rally instead of going directly to impoverished communities and help with emergency assistance.

So what is COSATU saying?

Good. They wouldn't do Shite anyways

COSATU is dead.

Is this a kind of a joke? What action were going to be taken vele, those people are not working for the government, but mines, and they are on strike no one is helping them with their negotiations, you talk about actions

Even if they wanted to, they would have still failed

Noble idea.

Is that a condonation of the act? If so, then it must be a sign that Cosatu, except Zingiswa Losi, are not happy with Cyril.

What could they do. Those are members of affiliates to COSATU and only those affiliates could do something

It was cosatu leaders that were paid R800 000 stolen by bosasa from the state. they should have bribed the workers too so that they behave. CR17BankStatements

They are not workers they unemployed

There is nothing they can do vele

Those workers were not disrupting May Day Celebration, they didn't want Your Failing, Dissapointing and Selfish PresidencyZA to act like he cares for workers while he's not. They had every right because The Failing CyrilRamaphosa is ignoring workers demands.

Vele they are useless

It would be unfair and unreasonable to even take any action against workers who grind to make this country work and yet less appreciated.

Is this a joke?

Cosatu urges workers to use Workers' Day celebrations to unite to overcome challenges - SABC News - Breaking news, special reports, world, business, sport coverage of all South African current events. Africa's news leader. The Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) President Zingiswa has Losi urged South African workers to use the Workers’ Day celebrations to unite to overcome the many challenges they face in the workplace. Imagine overcaming challenges without salary increase for 3years? If we are been honest there's no need for this federation anymore Is it not ironic that she has an ANC scarf around her neck? The very same organization that has over the years strangulated workers almost to non existence and used workers as stepladders to lucrative positions and shot workers in Marikana? Workers u on your own. The unions are part of ANC and part of the rot in sunny South Africa!
