UN aid chief Martin Griffiths “had frank and constructive discussions” with Russian officials in Moscow on facilitating exports of Ukraine grain from Black Sea ports, a UN spokesperson said on Friday.

“We’ve said clearly what we can do and what we cannot do,”Russian UN Ambassador Vassily Nebenzia told Reuters on Friday. Griffiths’ visit to Russia came days after another senior UN official, Rebeca Grynspan, had “constructive” talks in Moscow on expediting Russian grain and fertilizer exports.UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is trying to broker what he calls a “package deal” to resume both Ukrainian food exports and Russian food and fertilizer exports.
