I have a feeling that will mean a price raise for consumers . Big tech will start to charge a extra plan for that kind of protection . Government never gets anything right

How about the government come up with a real budget in 60 days?

Open competition up. Thats the answer

Puppets can’t do anything.

Pot talking to kettle here.

Yeah stop monopolies …

I'm sorry, but fixing future failures does not go far enough to address the issues with rogers outage for it's various services: cable, phone, internet, and financial. All services were negatively impacted by the one outage. Why does rogers have all infra eggs in one basket?

Service levels indexed slippage - telecom G20 rate comparison Canada second highest - UK Plans under $20 US per month - Canadians gouged gored blood thirsty leadership

Listened to Min. Champagne this am/ CBC radio with Catherine Cullen. Journalist Cullen owned Champagne. He was all over place in one point began comparing to covid-19. Really Mr. Champagne? He had no or at best Weak responses to Cullen questions.

Emergency infrastructure 'core' vs proprietary design - removed Canadian Safety access coast to coast to coast by digital design - no fail safe /backup inconceivable - negligence by design as in LTC - 5G recovery mtbf - Huawei not ripped out Bell Telus Rogers - Scenario Big3 Fail

Seize the cable lines - nationalize Rogers. Problem solved.

Nazis = ottawa

Can you do the same for people with disabilities? Priorities? No? 🚨🇨🇦👇🏻

Since the 3 Amigos keep stifling new mobile company’s it’s time to truly open it up to true competition and get a huge EU or US company in here. CA is NOT competitive in cellular communication in the world market.

JustinTrudeau Just listened to Champagne on cbc. Jeezaz he just talked in circles instead of answering very simple questions in black and white. Trudeau this guy is a direct reflection of your government and these do nothings will see you NOT re-elected. Kill the Haw deal!

The Russian hackers are watching….

How easy is it to completely shut the country down? From a National Security perspective, this should be a wake up call.

This is will go nowhere

CRTC was old man Trudy's baby

Trudeau Govt. is asking Industry how they should be regulated?

Open up the telecommunications to other players. Stop the monopoly

Well if Ottawa calls for it then it must be a great idea no one else has ever thought of… I’m sure telecoms have never thought of securing their networks in order to make them more reliable. Honestly, the sanctimoniousness of politicians is so tiresome.

Oh,whatever.

DMajOuourno Good article dodging real core issues. The question is: are you going to cover why Canada has only two major companies controlling the fate of Telecommunications infront of your watch “The Free Canadian Press”? Rogers Bell Enlighten us curious Darren!

How shameful that Canada, a pioneer in Telecommunications, is being brought to its knees by two family-run companies because they are good at paying good bribes to CRTC and government officials. Canadians nowadays are so obedient and naïve that they forgot how to say “No”

gov doesn't care as it loves monopolies

Why does it take an national security episode like this where Canada was disabled from one network outage, to wake up the government that back up plans need to exist? Industry should not be allowed to self regulate. Ever. Duh.

I wonder how much Huawei stock that guy still has 🤔

JustinTrudeau theJagmeetSingh How come for the Telecom outage and the Pandemic, you use your powers to take IMMEDIATE action, but for the housing crisis, you just drag your feet?

The liberals are hardly a shining example of what good looks like.

Hey, how about a plan from you and your ineffectual, uselss group to mitigate the HORRIFIC impact of inflation on every other Canadian other than politicians!

ottawa allowed for anti-competition For decades smaller family run cable companies were bought out by top communication companies - made it easier for ottawa to regulate communications

Maybe the government should focus on cleaning up their own 💩 show.

Big telecoms aren’t going to do shit.. keep dreaming suit

Invite new companies to strengthen the network and to lower the prices! How hard is that?

Translation: 'Make sure nothing like this ever happens again, or we'll open the sector to foreign competition.'

And meanwhile in real news, Canadians want government to go back to work, issue passports on time and arrest the PM for his crimes. TrudeauCorruption has no place in business. Customers will deal with Rogers.

further entrenching the price fixing oligarchy. no reason not to open it up to US companies

No way Rogers are back with anything approaching full service. Off, on broken coverage via Rogers of Canadian Women's Soccer tonight. Refunds? Unlikely to silence subscribers. One month? Two months? It will still be insult!!

About the rogers-Shaw deal. Notice how he says he won’t allow the “wholesale transfer”. That’s speak for they’ll allow some transfer, of the mobile side and potentially all of the internet side of Shaw. Seriously crippling Shaws mobile service offer

Regulations are needed but we also need to do something about brain drain because the best and brightest aren't staying in Canada.

SO the minister expects the other 2 incumbents be able to handle the traffic of the other incumbent if their infrastructure fails? Only thing that will result in is additional fees on our money bills under the guise of network enhancements that will fail the next time!

No one in the corrupt and incompetent liberal government is clever enough to recognize a good plan if it hit them between the eyes. c.c. FP_Champagne

Allowing Rogers to swallow up Shaw would be a bad start.

How about having more competition? No. Not an option for the incompetent leadership.

And what is the govt doing to fix the super long delays in acquiring passports?

LOL. I only wish our government was capable of coming up with a plan to provide basic services like passports, clearing the way to have citizens freely able to return home, you know the things GOVERNMENTS are expected to provide

Ya, I am pretty sure they can't force a private company to prop up the competition. No wait, I forgot this now Justin Trudeau's new Canada and the Supreme leader with seize their assets and bank accounts.

Not the One World Digital Currency, thanks 🙏🏻

Shouldn’t the Competition Bureau and CRTC be answering questions on how they both allowed this to happen on their watch ?

Shut up! It was planned. Trudeau didn't even mention it! And he tweets every single day. Break them up or shut up!

Too Fkn late. Roger’s system down again in Vaughan. Nice work Rogers Assholes I’m expecting. A free month , again. Ask and u will receive

The solution, FP_Champagne, is to break up Big Telco. End their price gouging syndicate and rebuild the corrupt CRTCeng from the ground up, so it never happens again. This isn't just about cost. What happened Fri represented a national security risk. Where is Safety_Canada?

FP_Champagne the challenge is also power outages at local central offices. In recent storm, some CO’s may not have enough backup power during power outages - taking out cell and internet services.

How about, More competition for Roger 🤔

CBCRaffy So no new competition

Bolting the door after the horses have taken off

Tearing out all the Huawei equipment should go smoothly.

Lolol
