San Francisco-based macaron shop Chantal Guillon is closing its remaining city store, located in the SoMa neighborhood., Chantal Guillon announced that its San Francisco store at 1309 Howard St. was permanently closing on Aug. 12 due to “financial hardship.”

“Unfortunately, we are sad to say that due to financial hardship and coming out of the pandemic as a small business, our SoMa storefront will no longer be open and we will no longer continue shipping locally or across the US,” the Friday post read in part. The closure of the Howard Street outpost marks the end of Chantal Guillon’s presence in San Francisco, where it was founded in 2008. On Instagram, Chantal Guillon suggested that it has plans for the SoMa storefront, but it’s unclear what those may be. SFGATE reached out to Chantal Guillon for comment but did not hear back by the time of publication.It’s not all bad news.
