Three Jacksonville companies have been contracted to provide more than $75 million worth of work for the Department of Defense, with the local firms handling major construction and transportation projects.
The first job will see the Jacksonville-based construction company build a flight line support facility at the Naval Weapons Station in Charleston, South Carolina. The project includes designing and building a logistical center for the assembly and maintenance of readiness spare packages. The contract includes two options that could increase the total price by $1.3 million.The project, which is being paid for by the Air Force and managed by the Navy, is slated to be completed by September 2024.
the company has seen on that project, which was awarded at the beginning of September, with $25 million worth of work being added at the end of last month.Sauer was one of seven companies awarded a piece of a $900 million design-bid-build contract in September 2021, with task orders being issued as work is needed. The first task order for the Pensacola work had the company set to be paid $38.
