The 3rd quarter of 2022 is touted to be the worst Q3 since 2014 as the smartphone market fell 9 percent YoY. 3 quarters in a row of decline for 2022.Consumers are delaying the purchase of electronic technology and placing more importance on other necessary expenditures due to the bleak economic outlook. For the next six to nine months, this will probably continue to affect the smartphone market.
With a 22 percent market share, Samsung maintained its top spot thanks to aggressive promotions to lower channel inventory. Due to relatively steady demand for iPhones, Apple was the only other vendor in the top five to report positive growth, significantly strengthening its market position with an 18 percent share during the market downturn.
Samsung grew 1 percent YoY, Apple grew 3 percent YoY, Xiaomi retained 14 percent YoY, OPPO declined 1 percent YoY, vivo dropped 2 percent YoY, and the rest of the vendors lost 1 percent altogether.
