The French company, Lafarge S.A., has pleaded guilty after they paid an ISIS terror group to keep a lucrative cement plant in Syria operating.

The French company Lafarge S.A., an international building materials manufacturer, funneled $6 million to ISIS and associates to protect cement plant operations Syria.A French company pleaded guilty Tuesday to paying terror groups, including the Islamic State, $6 million to keep a lucrative cement plant in Syria operating, marking the first time a corporation has been charged with supporting foreign terrorist organizations.

Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco cast Lafarge as a"partner" in terror, asserting that the company had collaborated with"one of the most brutal terrorist organizations the world has ever known, to enhance profits and increase market share — all while ISIS engaged in a notorious campaign of violence during the Syrian civil war."

According to court documents, the company operated the Syrian cement plant, constructed at a cost of $680 million, from 2010 to 2014. After the conflict began in 2011, Lafarge arranged to pay"armed factions in the civil war" to protect company employees, keep the plant running and strike an economic advantage over competitors in the unstable Syrian market.

Lafarge/Holcim defended by saying these criminal acts were against their code of conduct. Well that is good. I'm glad their code of conduct doesn't encourage or endorse crimes. But the company says it was only the act of a few executives. That is bull. Shoulda hired private company like one that guards US embassy Iraq.
