A Belfast recovery business has been hailed for its response during an emergency call out

BTS Recovery, based on the Blackstaff Road in West Belfast, offers 24 hour breakdown and recovery services and also has a repair yard. After being tasked to a job on Friday, through an insurance company, BTS says it soon became clear that a local garage tow was the only cover available.

The owner of the car lived over 20 miles away and was left devastated when they learned that they wouldn't be covered. The operator handling the call, grew concerned for the wellbeing of the car owner and organised a free-of-charge tow to their own mechanics. But it was only on speaking with the individual face-to-face, did it become transparent, they they were struggling.

In a statement BTS Recovery said: "Whilst travelling the half hour drive with the member it became apparent that the car was in fact their only means of travel to daily hospital treatments for the next few weeks and they were in fact scrimping on heating and eating to be able to cover the costs to get to the hospital.

"Thankfully the car fix was a simple enough one and we covered the cost. The reason for this post is to ask anyone who find themselves genuinely stuck and in real need with a vehicle related issue to reach out to us. "We are not promising the earth but I promise to do all I can. My messages are always open and everything is between us. If we can help we will."For all the latest news, visit the Belfast Live homepage here. To sign up to our FREE newsletters, see here.
