Not a problem – as long as you have the cash. We went shopping for South Africa's best, or at least most expensive, artificial Christmas trees. We found several stunning options, but prices at around R8,000 and above for the higher-end options, and nothing much below R3,000.

If you're looking to spend that kind of money, though, there are a couple of merchants that can help you, including Leroy Merlin, Builders, and Takealot.Earlier this week, DIY retailer Leroy Merlin had the most expensive tree we could find from a general retailer, at R9,832.20: a 42-kg, 3m tree that, though less realistic than some, came with a snowy finish.3.1 metre high fir that is some 170cm around, weighs in at 37kgs, and costs R8,320.
