SIBU: Prices of chicken eggs should be determined by demand and supply instead of setting a ceiling for it.

"Poultry farmers here are quite confident that prices of egg will go down if it is a free market and once egg production increases," said Sibu MP Oscar Ling after chairing a dialogue with Sibu Poultry and Livestock Association and Sibu Butchers Association here on Monday .

"Farmers are actually selling eggs below the cost price. If they produce more they will lose more, so they have to resort to limiting production," he said. On shortage of pork in Sibu, he said farmers want the government to issue more pork import licenses instead of just four.

Jgn merepek la MP

only in an IDEAL situation, which is not...

ini makanan orang miskin....

Why we export eggs where internally our nation is shortage of eggs? Something is not right.. Stop export of eggs..

We need data; how much exported, price indices of eggs, production of eggs, relevant ministries and Kastam can provide these figures. We just can't let market forces determine the prices. Every countries treat hoarding as crime.

That is the best, but must place a maximum price limit cap

Need to eliminate monopolies first before allowing free market forces, or start giving incentives to small time farmers to up their production to counter monopolies

Nasib baik orang Islam monopoli beras... Kalau x makan kulit telur la 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Market forces will always favor business not consumer. Govt must apply guided market forces to protect consumers.

Are you certain that this will not be a burden on the people?
