Nancy Oakley was among 13 artists with their work on display when the Cape Breton Centre for Craft and Design hosted its first Mi’kmaq Christmas Craft Market on Thursday. The artists on display are working in contemporary and traditional Mi’kmaq craft. Beading, visual art, pottery, jewellery and other crafts were part of the market. Oakley has been a member of the centre for 22 years and specializes in stone-polished, smokey-fired pottery, utilizing many colours.
The display is part of the first Mi’kmaq Christmas Craft Market at the centre on Charlotte Street, Sydney.Enjoy some free hot chocolate and apple cider while you browse.
