Arizona has two cities ranked among the top 20 in the nation for having the largest Generation Z workforce, according to a recently released study.that Tucson was No. 5 for Gen Z workers, and Glendale was No. 16. The study came up with its rankings by looking at data from the nation’s 100 largest cities and determining what percentage of total workers in each city is made up of people born between 1997 and 2005.
The report also found that the labor force participation in Tucson and all the other top five cities was 63% or higher. Ahead of Tucson on the list were Lubbock, Texas; Norfolk, Virginia; Lincoln, Nebraska; and Madison Wisconsin. In fact, Midwestern cities made up the bulk of the top 10. The study used population data and labor force participation rates from the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2021 1-year American Community Survey, which turned up some other facts about Gen Z workers.SmartAsset said that by 2025, Gen Z workers are expected to account for a quarter of the workforce in the U.S., but it said that the Gen Z growth rate in the workplace varies among cities.
