2023 ought to be a big year in America’s transition towards electric vehicles. The federal government has set aside billions to encourage consumers and manufacturers to hitch a ride, and to ramp up the nation’s charging infrastructure.
What doOn a road trip across the Midwest we look at whether America’sare compatible. We visit a factory making a battery-powered version of a popular truck. Ethan Karp from MAGNET talks about the prospects for a manufacturing renaissance in what some rudely call the rustbelt. And Chuck Browning from UAW considers what the transition means for union workers.
jonfasman Demand is waning?
jonfasman Hydrogen cars are the way to go, only emissions from it is water.
jonfasman That you’ll get a about 80km towing with a Ford F150 lightning!
jonfasman Superchargers are everywhere and most EV's are Teslas. So not sure what you're talking about.

UAW The main electric car manufacturer’s demand curve might shift to the left as other car manufacturers are entering the market for electric vehicles by creating differentiated electric vehicles. MillerMicro23
chowardchoward Thank you Tesla...
MAGNETOhio UAW Look it up
MAGNETOhio UAW Hmmm i see only tesla in the future of EVs
jonfasman If we don't push infrastructure we will never see EVs growing faster. If compared to gas stations numbers, EVs charger numbers are like a drop in the ocean!
jonfasman Its fucxxd
jonfasman Overhyped toys that do not live up to promises. Nowhere near worth the 40-50k for lousy range..in particular I'm winter..
jonfasman The demand is NOT there.
MAGNETOhio It’s like the brief for this piece was “Write a piece on electric cars and US manufacturing but don’t say anything positive about America’s greatest recent green manufacturing success (ie Tesla).” What’s going on Economist
MAGNETOhio Ever work in semiconductor manufacturing? Worst job I ever had. Clean room conditions, 12-hour shifts, a stifling suit and you can’t drink water because a bathroom break takes 45 minutes due to the decontamination procedures. Never again.
