President Cyril Ramaphosa has declared a period of mourning for seven days from Tuesday in honour of Dr Frene Ginwala, the late founding Speaker of South Africa’s democratic Parliament.

In 2005, Dr Ginwala was honoured with the Order of Luthuli in Silver for her excellent contribution to the struggle against gender oppression and her tireless contribution to the struggle for a non-sexist, non-racial, just and democratic South Africa.President Ramaphosa has directed that the National Flag be flown at half-mast at all flag stations around the country until the evening of Tuesday, 24 January 2023.

The Presidency will in the coming days announce details of an official memorial service that will take place in Johannesburg on Tuesday, 24 January. This event will serve as a national tribute to the late Speaker.

We want electricity but CyrilRamaphosa PresidencyZA you're busy with mourning periods sek man

Do we stay home, on mattress for 7 days?🤔 That's how I mourn😭

One less ANC voter

What about Enyobeni victims?. What about the mass deaths that happen in the country he never observes such.

So will the electricity work for 7 days now or is she not important enough? MYANC

May her soul rest in perfect peace Amen 🙏

We South Africans have been in mourning for years

Not now please! Maybe next year ... Wrong timing! We want Cyril to account for loadshedding, for playing with lives of many black south africans

No need…

We started that long time ago we are using candles until further notice. Good for the old lady because maybe she died under a generator power not Eskom.

Thank you President, she deserved a bigger send off. But the family wishes come first and we know you would have announced a befitting category by the Government for her State funeral. May her soul rest in peace. What an inspirational activist. South Africa produced the best.

We can't mourn in the dark.

Voetsek

Another millions of taxpayers’ money are going to be thrown in the bin !
