its enclosure at the weekend in the south of Johannesburg has reportedly been shot dead.
A search was underway for Sheeba the tiger in Walkerville after the animal attacked a 39-year-old man, a dog and a deer. The Midvaal Local Municipality MMC for Corporate Services, Chantal Gomes says, “There isn’t a huge amount of legislation. So, it is generally governed by the Department of Environmental Affairs. But each province basically is responsible for regulating, the owning and movement of exotic pets. Unfortunately [it] is not one of those that has any legislation surrounding it.
Meanwhile, animal rights group, Four Paws South Africa, has warned that South Africa is becoming a breeding ground for illicit big cats. “While they are not native to South Africa, unfortunately, tigers are bred and kept in captivity in concerning numbers across the country. And the reason for that is commercial purposes and profit. Cases such as this really highlight the need for government to take action to address the private keeping of big cats and also to end the trade of big cats from South Africa,” Four Paws South Africa’s Sarah Locke elaborates.
A lot is said about the tiger . Nothing about its owner?🤔

It is sad that people want to own what they are unable to take care of (sigh) Tigers can never be chained and it was bound to come to this, it’s death!
Now, please ban Pitbulls.
You can’t task a group of law enforcement agencies with an appetite to shoot to kill & without significant Knowledge of wildlife and preservation, this special operation was meant to be mandated to wildlife conservationist and rehabilitation was the only solution for Sheba.
That's just sad, if that White guy didn't insist on keeping Sheeba in his backyard, she would've died of natural courses, like in a fight with other tigers or, shot by poachers for her fur in her Natural habitat in India...
This is such a painful news to read the tiger was just doing & behaving like an animal to shoot & kill the tiger is not the solution South Africa is heartless & have no integrity solution to any problem.Always looking for the easy way out.Tigerlosthislife4justbehavinglikeanimal

How true is this? Yesterday I read that she was tranquilised and relocated to another place where her mate was relocated to.
Hold the owner accountable
I am sad the tiger was shot. Acting according to his nature is not his fault. Why was it allowed to escape? What safety measures were in place? I also hope the injured man recovers fully, with only a unique story to tell in the aftermath.
Who's the White man owning the Animal...? Full details please
