While the styling changes carryover from Europe, the big news is that America is getting the CLA 45 S. It features a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that develops 416 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. That makes it the most powerful four-cylinder production model offered for sale on this side of the pond.
The engine is connected to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, which sends power to a standard all-wheel drive system. This setup should enable the car to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 4.0 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 167 mph . That’s a significant improvement over the outgoing CLA 45, which had 382 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque. The company quoted the old model as having as 0-60 mph time of 4.0 seconds, so it’s possible they’re being conservative with the time for the 45 S.
