A small business owner in Connecticut is closing his family-oriented Italian restaurant after 11 years in business amid rising inflation and labor shortages. Mark Zommer spoke on 'Fox & Friends.'

Zommer said the cost of fuel to get the products they need has doubled, if not tripled, since they opened in 2011 — causing him to increase menu prices in turn.

"I feel guilty having to raise my prices, for people to come out to have a piece of chicken for $22," he said. The owner said business is also down due to the budgetary constraints many Americans are dealing with and know well today. Zommer said the high costs of labor and fuel are two factors that drove his decision to close his business.

“Cost of labor” lol

What kind of research did FOX perform… and what questions did they ask on air … about how COVID affected this business?

This is so 😭. We always go there for ice cream when we ride our bikes.

It’s almost always bad management…

Good job NedLamont 🫡

This place has great food too. I loved going there and been there a few times. I went there on my first date with my girl and we ate there about 2 days before she passed away. This place will always be remembered.

I didn't even get to open. I was in the process of opening a brewery in Brooklyn when covid hit. We were waiting for our liquor license to arrive. Due to the lockdowns put in place by our governor no new liquor licenses were issued. We couldn't afford the rent. We shut down.
