The City of Cape Town announced on Tuesday that it will pay cash and an incentive to businesses that feed their excess power into the grid, laying the basis for further future load shedding reductions. Cape Town municipal customers are already shielded from one stage of load shedding most of the time by the City's own pumped storage power station on the Steenbras Dam. Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis said the aim is to extend this to four stages through this initiative and others in the pipeline.
Thirdly, the City had to apply to the National Energy Regulator of SA for an approved feed-in tariff. Hill-Lewis said the City had decided to pay an incentive on top of the Nersa tariff of 78,98c/kWh to encourage investment in embedded generation. The incentive will add 25c/kWh. The City has a budget of R15 million to pay small-scale embedded generators for the remainder of this financial year which ends in June.
_Business Amaqabane ka Tambo are still trying to figure out how to get clean audits.
_Business Excellent strategy. Works wonders around the globe
_Business I hope for this. But I tell you now. The Gwene dude will come with a plan and court case to stop this. Whatch him. This is to good to make it work. Eskom will not be far behind him.
_Business There will be a catch. What are the tax implications?
_Business I blame white monopoly capital for this
_Business Happy to help
_Business No ANC no EFF = A good life with Lights on! Well done DA and Cape Town Municipality

_Business Why is it that private consumers who want to feed back have to pay 12k for a meter on top of the capital investment and the cost of compliance with the city's bylaws? CityofCT
_Business And I have tried many time to get a weeling agreement with city power for the extra electricity I generate from my solar. It all goes to waste from 2pm till sunset all gone to waste and yet it could help with loadshedding in Jozi
_Business Eskom_SA why is this not part of a national programme to get people to install solar urgently and quickly to boost the grid? This could work faster in ending loadshedding than any plan you may have at the minute. The next best thing is shaving off 10% of the installing fee
_Business Soon only DA-run municipalities will have reliable electricity!! 🎉🎉🥳🥳🥳💙💙
_Business Why does this never mean that Eskom can go and say: Give me your forecast for what you buying and I pull it from you and offer it to someone else. What am I missing? Otherwise the wealthy just have power either way. They don't have to manage anything.
_Business One province that works
_Business Funny how when things fall apart, the hated 'White' parties come with solutions like the DA, Afriforum and Solidaity building Colleges and Instiutions of higher learning, while the others burn, destroy, kill and demand. Take a look at what MayorPappas is doing in KZN.
_Business This ....☝🏽 is called selfless leadership. Something Liberation movements, Trade Unions and Revolutionary movements in SA don't have.
_Business These ones have some viable ideas. At this moment where there’s no power, you are not even incentivized to go solar, say for example tax credits
_Business THIS is exactly what South Africa needs! An incentive for businesses AND private households to generate power and feed back into the grid. We should have done this 15 years ago.
_Business eskomsalaryshedding over 40 000 employees and nobody can fix the problem, and now they got more money, let's start salary shedding at Eskom and see how quickly they fix the problem Eskomsalaryshedding instead of punishing the people who pay their bills.
