Saanich police were called to the 4500-block of Chatterton Way and the 800-block of Royal Oak Avenue after several parked vehicles were marred by graffiti on Tuesday

Racist symbols, depictions of male genitalia and random scribbles were part of a graffiti spree that caused tens of thousands of dollars of damage to vehicles and property in Saanich Tuesday.

Saanich police were called to the 4500-block of Chatterton Way and the 800-block of Royal Oak Avenue after several parked vehicles were marred by graffiti.The damage done is estimated to be in excess of $30,000, said Const. Markus Anastasiades. Police don’t believe that any of the vehicles, owners or properties were targeted in the spree, which occurred some time between 3 p.m. and 11 p.m. Tuesday.

Anyone who may have witnessed the vandalism is asked to speak to investigators or report what they know anonymously by calling Greater Victoria Crime Stoppers at 1-888-222-8477.
