There is still time for local artists to get involved with this year’s holding of the Town of Truro’s Art Acquisition Program. | SaltWire

“We were thrilled with the quality and caliber,” town councillor Cathy Hinton said of the artwork submitted last year. The winning entries ended up being Sheila Newell for her Victoria St. Beauties painting in the painting and photography category, and Checking It Out, a wood carving by Keith Cheyne.

“We’re hoping to reach those new to the area,” Hinton said as a goal for this year’s program. “We’re always looking for the new artists who have recently relocated to the area along with the amazing artists who are already here.” The Town of Truro Art Acquisition Show goes from April 3 to 28 at the McCarthy Hall Gallery on the campus of the. The opening event, where the top entrees are selected for each category, and added to the town’s permanent collection, takes place on April 13 at the gallery starting at 5 p.m.
