The strata at Canterbury Court in Richmond is suing Burnaby Blacktop Ltd. for the return of an alleged $15,000 overpayment for snow removal more than a year ago.

A Richmond strata says it overpaid a Burnaby business nearly $15,000 for snow removal more than a year ago – and it wants its money back.

During the winter of 2021 to 2022, the strata at Canterbury Court hired Burnaby Blacktop Ltd. to remove snow from its three residential complexes on Blundell Road and Minoru Boulevard in Richmond, according to a notice of civil claim filed in small claims court this week. Burnaby Blacktop sent Canterbury Court 14 invoices for the work, and they were paid in full, according to the civil claim.

The strata claims only six of the invoices were valid and the other eight were duplicates and sent “in error.” Canterbury Court says it has made “several requests” for the return of the overpayment and sent a formal letter but “no action was taken” on Burnaby Blacktop’s part.Canterbury Court’s claims have not been proven in court.Follow Cornelia Naylor on Twitter @CorNaylor
