Rob Shaw, winner of the paintings category with his piece entitled 'Autumn Reds'. - Brendyn CreamerTRURO, N.S. — The annual Town of Truro Art Acquisition show commenced its opening ceremony on April 13, showcasing works from visual artists across the town and county.
Coun. Cathy Hinton, chair of the Art Acquisition committee, said a few words before the winners were announced. Mayor Bill Mills took to the podium after Hinton. Before announcing the winners, he provided guests with his philosophy on art. Mills first announced the winner of the all-other mediums category. Ursula Gulliver, with her rug-hooked depiction of the northern lights.

I never really expect to win, so I'm thrilled to bits.""I always wanted to paint something in the fall," said Shaw."Whites and reds, and then I got a little crazy with other colours.
