Canada's Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland on Monday urged striking public sector workers to accept what she called a 'very fair' government proposal, even as the workers' union warned it would ramp up pressure to get its demands met.

Picketers march around the Office of the Prime Minister and Privy Council as approximately 155,000 public sector union workers with the Public Service Alliance of Canada continue to strike, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada April 24, 2023.

"Our government has put a very fair offer clearly and openly on the table," Freeland told reporters in Toronto. The government has offered a 9% wage increase over three years, and said that it would continue negotiations to reach an agreement quickly.
