© 2022 Bloomberg Finance LPannounced on Tuesday that it would expand its Google Cloud Startup Program to blockchain companies, offering up to $6 million in partnering grants and several hundred thousand more in Google Cloud credits that can be used to access computer processing power. The collaborators offering up to $1 million in token rewards per company include the teams behind blockchains Aptos, Celo, Near, Solana and Hedera Hashgraph.
“Google Cloud views the evolution of blockchain technology and decentralized networks today as analogous to the rise of open source and the internet 10 to 15 years ago,” says James Tromans, Head of Web3 Engineering, Google Cloud. “Just as open source developments were integral to the early days of the internet, blockchain is yielding innovation and value creation for consumers and businesses.”
The Google Cloud Startups Program has seen over 30,000 new companies complete its course. Participants will receive access to Google Cloud storage, Google’s own blockchain node engine, mentors and other resources for startups “to be successful without creating technical debt that slows them down,” adds Tromans.
Participants will also receive priority review for Coinbase’s Base Ecosystem Fund, which funds projects to be built onFollow me on
